Irene Williams is a retired teacher who loves art. During her career, she taught many grades and levels. She especially enjoyed teaching her gifted 6th graders! She was happy to be able to integrate art into her instruction of Social Studies, Literature, and even Math! Irene was also privileged to teach gifted young artists in an after-school program sponsored by the Garden Grove Unified School District. She volunteered with the Imagination Celebration of Orange County for over 20 years.
Even as a very young child, Irene was fascinated by color and nature. She treasured any art materials she could get her hands on. She is basically self-taught from years of “playing with” her art supplies. Through college and grad school as a speech communication major, there was little time for art. When she began teaching elementary school, she began to see how she could use her love of art to enrich the curriculum for her eager students.
When she retired Irene began to immerse herself into learning more about painting. She focuses on painting flowers in watercolor, acrylic, and mixed media. Irene joined the Cypress Art League in 2015. She has been lucky enough to win some ribbons, and she is delighted to be on the board and in the company of artists!
