Demonstrator: Nancy Anderson – Mixed Media.

Nancy is a former teacher and describes her work as impressionistic, characterized by loose application of paint and contrasts color.

Artist statement: “Like many artists, I strive to put meaning into my artwork and want my content and style to reflect my passion. I work in many different mediums because to me painting is about being challenged by new subjects, materials and techniques. I’ve had a lifelong curiosity about, and empathy for people in all walks of life. In my figurative work, I strive to reveal a person’s character rather than a literal likeness. I often paint buildings and structures and while they may not depict people, I am thinking about the people who lived or worked there. I want my paintings to engage the viewer, so I often put in a lot of details and somewhat hidden layers.”
