About Our Juror: Joseph Stoddard
Joseph Stoddard is known for his colorful and energetic watercolor paintings. He delivers exciting architecture, edgy sketches and vivid colors in his work. Because of Joseph’s impressionistic interpretation of the subject matter, the observer experiences fluid movement and visually stimulating scenes. Joseph has been painting for thirty years and loves to portray the urban jungle, natural landscapes, and diverse architecture.
Joseph Stoddard has authored several books, and his work can be seen at his website: Josephstoddard.com

5. Artwork Preparation
All artworks:
All artworks must have artist name, address, phone number, title, medium, and price/NFS affixed either on back corner of 2-dimensional works or so as to not be seen on 3-dimensional works. Your art piece will be handled several times to place if for judging, please make sure all pieces have secure hanging hardware or are otherwise stable.
2-Dimensional Works:
- 2-Dimensional works must be dry, framed, and ready to hang.
- Watercolors, pastels, and drawings must be under glass or plexiglass.
- Edges must be painted if not framed.
- Dimensions may not exceed 48″ either vertically or horizontally.
- Backing for artwork pieces should not be cardboard to avoid discoloring the artwork. Use acid-free materials such as acid free think matt board or foam core.
- Hanging hardware must be appropriate for the weight of the piece.
- No loose eyelets, nails sticking out, or wires not secured properly.
- Picture wire must be used for hanging. Not acceptable: rope, string, chains, ribbon, bungee, leather, jewelry wire, very fine or frayed wire.
- Hanging hardware must be securely attached and have a wire across the back, see below.

Proper placement of picture wire is determined by the size and orientation of the artwork. Measure the vertical sides of the frame; mark each side appropriately 1/4 of the way down from the top corners. Place eyelet or strap hangers on your mark. Attach standard picture wire to the hangers, wrapping several times for security. The wire should be stretched tightly but not so your hand cannot be easily placed under it. A poorly placed or loose wire will tilt the artwork forward instead of lying flat against the wall. Be sure to use wire strong enough for the weight of your artwork.
3-Dimensional Works:
- 3-Dimensional works (ie sculpture, ceramics, carvings) must not exceed 36″x18″x18″ and 75 lbs.
- Artist must supply display units for large or unusual entries.
