Another year has passed. I still cant believe we are pushing 2020. Hope you had a wonderful holiday season and will now concentrate on works to enter in our Spring Show scheduled for April 27 (entry) and 28 (show).

We had the election of officers and review of the ByLaws in November. Irene Williams has volunteered to take the position of 1st Vice President. Unless I hear objections from the membership, she will be installed at the January 13th meeting. Also, Mark Williams has agreed to do Publicity. The results are: Pat Edep = President, Irene Williams = 1st Vice President, Mary McGlassen = 2nd Vice President for Programs & Scholarships, Bob Meyer = 3rd Vice President for Exhibits & Workshops, John Fox = 4th Vice President for Publicity & Newsletters, Wendy Hultquist = Secretary, Kathleen McCready = Treasurer (assisted by Annette Rose), Debbie Barcelona = Gallery Director, Hedi Roethel = Membership, Karen Jackson = Competitions, Pamela Clauss = Hospitality, John Brent = Web Director, Ben Ellerman = Historian, Ron Schrantz = Library Coordinator, and Jackie Dvorman = Raffle Coordinator.

Thank you all for stepping up to fill these positions. We are still missing sme slots on the board. Again, we are asking for voluteers for the open position of Parliamentarian. Remember, those people on the Board get a free year's membership for each year served.

We wish you and yours the best year that 2019 has to offer. Looking forward to seeing you at the meetings and shows. Dont forget that dues are now payable for the year.

January 13th is another not-to-miss meeting. The tradition continues with Jack King. Come to see what genre and/or artists on which he will focus his lecture. There will be the Installation of Officers following Jack's presentation.

The public is welcome and encouraged to attend out meetings held at the Cypress Cmomunity Center, 5700 Orange Avenue, Cypress. We start the meetings at 2:00 PM and usually conclude between 4:00 and 5:00 PM.

Your President

Madame President

Happy New Year to all! I hope everyone is having a creative and successful 2019!

A little housekeeping is in order as we kick off a new season ... we've been working hard to update our membership database, making sure that everyone on our mailing list is a current member.

As much as we'd like to continue mailing to everyone in our original list , our organization also needs to spend its resources wisely. Regretfully, those who may have forgotten to pay their membership dues over the past year will be dropped from our database after this month.

We have so many exciting presenters scheduled for 2018, our two juried shows, having the opportunity to connect with fellow artists in our community-- we know you wouldn't want to miss out on all the fun! So, please take a moment and fill out the membership form (see our flier or click here). Mail it in with your dues or bring it with you to the next meeting, and you won't miss a thing! After all, your support and participation is what make the Cypress Art League such a vibrant, strong organization.

We look forward to seeing you in 2019.

Hedi Roethel, Membership Chair

the Cypress Art League

The Cypress Art League is a non-profit organization located in Cypress, California. It was incorporated in 1969 to promote understanding and enjoyment of the arts among the citizens of the communities represented. Members include artists of all mediums, photographers, and patrons of the arts.

Meetings are held at regular intervals as announced on this website. Nationally acclaimed artists lecture and demonstrate their art during these meetings. Visitors are always welcome and are encouraged to join in the many events sponsored throughout the year.

Members bring examples of their art for judging at the general meetings and the winning entries are displayed on this website.

Open juried art shows are held twice a year during community art events. Prize money is awarded in numerous categories and artists are acknowledged at a public awards presentation.

The Art League currently supports and assists the city in scheduling and exhibiting art in the Cypress Community Center Art Gallery. These shows feature local artists' work, and are available to the public, free of charge.

All-inclusive tours of local museums and cultural events are offered throughout the year. It is our aim to provide first-class service at affordable prices. See our TOURS page on this website for currently planned tours.

Plein-Air painting excursions to local coastal areas, nature parks, and scenic vistas are scheduled six times a year. Member artists are always on-site and available to offer advice, critique others' work, and have a good time in general.

To encourage the study of the arts, scholarships are awarded to deserving students enrolled full-time in fine arts and photography at the Cypress Community College. Also, many member artists assist local primary and secondary schools with their art programs.
